Iberdrola seeks buyer for Romanian wind farms

ROMANIA: Iberdrola has put Romanian wind assets on the sales block, as as the Spanish power company continues with the disposal of non-strategic assets. Iberdrola’s move follows cuts in incentive prices that have made Romanian wind investments less attractive.

In a preliminary approach to potential bidders, the investment bank overseeing an eventual sale said assets being sold include Iberdrola’s operational 80MW Mihai Viteazu wind farm commissioned last year, as well as an option to acquire a majority stake in a 192MW pipeline in various stages of development.

Aside from these assets, Iberdrola still has a development pipeline exceeding 1GW in the country, and it is unclear if some of these assets could be included in an eventual deal.

Iberdrola was unable to comment.

Iberdrola had been in negotiations last summer to sell its Romanian wind pipeline to Chinese turbine manufacturer Sinovel, although those negotiations failed to lead to a transaction.

At the beginning of July, a Romanian emergency ordinance came into effect halving the green certificates issued to wind producers to one certificate per megawatt hour of production from a previous two. According to that ordinance, the second green certificate will still be issued, but only from 1 January 2018.

Iberdrola this year has already sold wind projects in Turkey, Poland and France.

Capacitatea parcurilor eoliene funcţionale în România a ajuns la 1.009,5 MW, cu 40% mai mare comparativ cu cea a unui reactor al centralei nucleare de la Cernavodă, investiţiile depăşind 1,5 miliarde de euro dacă se ţine cont de faptul că fiecare MW instalat costă între 1,5 şi 1,7 milioane de euro. Datele Transelectrica arată că în acest moment funcţionează 11 parcuri eoliene, toate fiind localizate în Dobrogea.

Cehii de la CEZ au cel mai mare parc eolian cu o capacitate de 387,5 MW în comuna dobrogeană Fântânele, în total funcţionând 155 de turbine de câte 2,5 MW fiecare.

Următorul ca mărime este parcul realizat de Energias de Portugal în comuna Peştera. Investiţia are o capacitate de 90 de MW şi cuprinde 30 de turbine eoliene. Tot Energias de Portugal mai are două parcuri eoliene de câte 69 de MW fiecare la Cernavodă.

Spaniolii de la Iberdrola au pus şi ei în funcţiune un parc eolian de 80 de MW în localitatea Mihai Viteazu. Italienii de la Enel au trei parcuri eoliene, fiecare de câte 70 de MW, precum şi unul mai mic de 34 de MW, toate situate în Tulcea.

Petrom, cea mai mare companie din România, figurează la rândul ei pe lista Transelectrica cu un parc eolian de 45 de MW în comuna dobrogeană Dorobanţu. Cel mai mic parc eolian ca şi capacitate din lista Transelectrica este deţinut de ButanGas. Acesta are 25 de MW şi este localizat în Siliştea, Dobrogea.

JOB OPENING: Commercial Sales Manager – Wind Power

What are the responsibilities?

– The Commercial Sales Manager (Region/Country) manages the sales process with regard to pricing, commercial and contractual matters.

– He/she is responsible in the sales team to optimizing the financial outcome of projects.

– Quality of new orders, hit rate, country or sales region, interdisplinary work, budgeting, lead/coaching sales team members.

– Co-drive activities/strategy implementation in the sales team together with the Technical Sales Manager.

– Manage the commercial dimension of activities in the sales team.

– Develop negotiation strategy, negotiate and manage the process up to signing of the contract.

– Lead / coach the sales team and contributors.

– Capture and analyze relevant regional market data including deep understanding of customer value/revenue drivers.

– Co-ordinate with business development department.

– Co-drive/agree country plans/Business Target Agreements/MOPs reimbursement of cost with Regional Entities. (as a Technical, I wonder what MOP is… 😉 )

– Prepare input for the income side of projects (price and cash-flow optimization)

– Coordinate and distribute high quality „Commercial Limits of Authority” packages to management.

– Prepare sales forecasts and budgets (country/region).

– Optimize and monitor project cost.

What is needed for this job?

– University graduate (Economical graduate);

– Fluency in English; (I would add that German is nice to have, but not a must)

– Min 2-3 year relevant experience in the commercial field / in an economic related position;

– Knowledge of basic accounting / SAP R3 SD module and/or PM module / local fiscal code and the local commercial law;

What else do is to know?

– Team work capabilities: ability to work as a member of a team and to build strong interpersonal communication relationship;

– Capability to work under pressure; (and my last personal addition is that travel is required)

– Results Oriented;

– Sociability, attentive to details.
